Sabah has completed two major climate studies, including Malaysia's first sub-national greenhouse gas inventory. The findings confirm that the region's forests and ecosystems absorb more carbon than its economic activities emit, maintaining its carbon-negative status. To manage these assets, the state is establishing the Sabah Climate Registry and Inventory Centre (SaCRIC). This body will regulate carbon-related activities and enforce the Sabah Climate Change and Carbon Governance Enactment 2025.
