S-1, a South Korean company, is deploying a building energy management system (BEMS) that uses AI and IoT sensors to cut summer cooling costs. The system monitors HVAC, lighting, and ventilation in real time, learns each building's energy patterns, and automatically adjusts equipment to reduce power use during peak hours. It also calculates greenhouse gas emissions for ESG reporting and detects leaks or flooding via temperature and water level sensors. According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, 44% of buildings in Korea are over 30 years old. These aging structures often have poor insulation and outdated equipment, which drives up cooling costs and increases the risk of equipment failure. S-1's BEMS is positioned as a data-driven alternative for building managers who need to cut energy expenses and prevent accidents during the summer peak.
