Ryman Healthcare builds NZ first retirement village solar farm, cuts emissions 30 percent
kalkinemedia.comRyman Healthcare has commissioned a 32 GWh solar farm in Northland, New Zealand, making it the first retirement village operator in the country to own a dedicated commercial-scale renewable energy source. The facility will supply about 60 percent of the company's New Zealand village electricity needs and cut carbon emissions by roughly 3,200 tonnes each year. Combined with renewable energy procurement in Australia, the solar farm helped Ryman reduce its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 30 percent compared to the prior financial year. The project supports the company's updated climate strategy focused on cutting emissions and building energy resilience for its retirement villages.
