RX raises 10 billion won for RX-50 industrial heat SMR, total funding reaches 23.9 billion won
mk.co.krRX, a South Korean small modular reactor engineering firm, raised 10 billion won in a Pre-A Bridge round. KDB Development Bank, Smilegate Investment, and Kiwoom Investment joined, with Company K Partners following on. The company has now raised 23.9 billion won in total. RX is developing the RX-50, a light water SMR for industrial heat, alongside the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. The goal is to replace fossil fuel heat sources with carbon-free heat. The company also cleared the funding threshold to enter phase two of the Deep Tech Challenge Project, which moves it toward full R&D. The round matters because industrial heat is a large slice of global emissions, and most SMR coverage focuses on electricity. Whether RX-50 can deliver heat at the right temperatures and cost will decide its real impact.
