Russia Completes RITM-200 Reactor for Floating Nuclear Power Plants
marineinsight.comRussia has finished the first RITM-200C reactor unit, a 58 MWe module designed for a new fleet of floating nuclear power plants. The unit will be part of the FPU-106 project to provide carbon-free electricity to a copper mining cluster in the Chukotka region. These floating units are intended for remote or offshore industrial sites where traditional grid connection is impractical. Rosatom is currently producing 14 of these reactors for both power plants and icebreakers, with export versions offering longer service lives and refueling intervals.
