Agreed. The real question is whether there are provincial grants for upgrading these old rinks to low carbon cooling. If they just replace like for like, they are missing a huge opportunity to lower the long term operating cost.

Curious about the actual load of that old ice system. If it is as ancient as the council says, the efficiency must be terrible. I wonder if the local distribution can even handle a modern high efficiency heat pump system if they go that route.
