Rivan Opens London Factory to Scale Synthetic Natural Gas Production, Targets 1 TWh in UK
carbonherald.comRivan Industries has opened Production Base 1, a 60,000 square foot manufacturing and R&D hub in London, to build modular synthetic natural gas (SNG) systems. The facility is designed to produce up to 50 one-megawatt units per year, with in-house metal fabrication, electronics, and final assembly. Rivan plans to hire more than 100 engineering and operations staff over the next year. The company uses off-grid solar to make hydrogen and capture CO2, then converts both into grid-compliant SNG through a catalytic reactor. It aims to bring 1 TWh of SNG online across the UK within three years, partly to reduce reliance on imported fossil gas, which covers about 60 percent of UK supply. The first commercial demonstration unit began operating in Wiltshire in August 2026.
