Rio Tinto has signed a long-term agreement to exclusively market recycled-content aluminum billet produced at RevoCast's new casting facility in Langley, British Columbia. The plant, commissioned in August, can produce more than 80,000 metric tons per year of 6000-series billet for extrusions used in construction, transportation, industrial products, and consumer goods. The deal pairs RevoCast's remelting operation with Rio Tinto's low-carbon primary aluminum made at Kitimat using hydropower. That gives North American extrusion customers a way to source higher recycled content and lower embodied emissions from regional supply chains, with less dependence on overseas metal. RevoCast says its remelting technology focuses on energy efficiency and lower emissions. Rio Tinto says the deal supports circularity in British Columbia's construction sector.
