Rio Tinto to Exclusively Market RevoCast Low-Carbon Aluminium Billet Across North America
securities.ioRio Tinto and RevoCast Aluminum Billets Ltd. have signed a long-term agreement to expand supply of low-carbon aluminium billet for extrusion customers in North America. Rio Tinto will exclusively market the billet produced at RevoCast's new facility in Langley, British Columbia, which has an annual capacity of more than 80,000 tonnes. The product combines hydropower-based primary aluminium from Rio Tinto's Kitimat operations with recycled aluminium processed by RevoCast, giving manufacturers access to lower-carbon material with recycled content. The deal strengthens regional supply chains and supports circularity in construction and other sectors. RevoCast's Langley plant uses advanced remelting technology and recycled inputs. Rio Tinto's Kitimat smelter, powered by hydroelectricity from the Kemano Powerhouse, produces aluminium with one of the lowest carbon footprints globally. This partnership aims to help North American manufacturers increase recycled and low-carbon content in their products.
