Rio Tinto and RevoCast Aluminum Billets have signed a long-term deal to sell more low-carbon aluminium billet to extrusion customers in North America. Rio Tinto will be the exclusive marketer for billet made at RevoCast's new casting plant in Langley, British Columbia, which started up in August 2026 and can produce over 80,000 tonnes per year of 6xxx-series billet. The billet combines primary aluminium from Rio Tinto's hydropower-powered Kitimat smelter with recycled aluminium processed by RevoCast. That mix lowers the carbon footprint compared with standard primary metal and shortens the supply chain for manufacturers in construction, transportation, and consumer goods. The deal also supports circularity in British Columbia's construction sector. For buyers, it means a regional source of billet with recycled content, backed by a large miner's sales network, instead of relying on longer haul routes.
