RINA has been awarded a contract to provide safety assessment services for the H2WATT Green Hydrogen Hub in Indonesia, a project led by PLN Puslitbang, the research arm of state-owned electricity company PT PLN. The assessment will focus on fire and explosion risks, using modeling tools to identify hydrogen release scenarios and recommend mitigation measures like ventilation and gas detection systems. RINA is also in talks to deliver ISCC PLUS certification for the hydrogen refueling station, which would verify the sustainability and low-carbon credentials of the hydrogen produced. The H2WATT project represents a significant step in Indonesia's energy transition, aiming to build an end-to-end green hydrogen ecosystem. By combining local innovation with international technical expertise, the project seeks to set a safety benchmark for hydrogen deployment in Southeast Asia. This collaboration highlights growing momentum for hydrogen development in the region as governments and industry work to diversify energy systems and reduce emissions.
