Researchers at Graz University of Technology and wienerberger have developed a reusable brick wall system designed for circular construction. By using reversible joints instead of permanent mortar, these prefabricated walls can be dismantled and rebuilt, preventing high-quality materials from becoming demolition waste. This approach targets the high carbon footprint of brick production and the waste generated by short-lived commercial buildings. The system maintains structural stability and thermal performance while decoupling the lifespan of the building materials from the lifespan of the structure itself.
