Rehda signs MoUs with MGTC and MCMA on sustainable property development and carbon markets
edgeprop.myMalaysia's Real Estate and Housing Developers' Association (Rehda) signed two memoranda of understanding in September 2026 to push sustainable property development. One is with the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) to work on green technology, ESG integration and climate action in the built environment. The other is with the Malaysia Carbon Market Association (MCMA) to build carbon market knowledge, covering carbon credits and climate financing for developers. The deals were signed at International Sustainability Week 2026 in Kuala Lumpur and align with Malaysia's net-zero 2050 target. For Rehda members, the main gain is access to technical expertise on carbon management and decarbonisation strategies. The open question is whether the MoUs lead to concrete projects, measurable emissions reductions, and financing that developers can actually use.
