Espoo-based startup Reduciner has secured €3.6 million to commercialize a thermochemical process that turns captured carbon dioxide into carbon monoxide. This allows heavy industries like cement, steel, and lime to reuse their own emissions as fuel without rebuilding their entire infrastructure. The process uses renewable electricity and biogenic carbon, producing activated carbon as a secondary product to improve economic viability. The company plans to launch initial industrial pilots in Finland before expanding internationally.
