Redcap Tour First in Korean Travel Industry to Get SBTi Approval for Emissions Reduction Targets

Redcap Tour has become the first company in South Korea's travel industry to receive approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its greenhouse gas reduction goals. The company set 2023 as its base year and aims to cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 54.6% by 2033, while reducing Scope 3 emissions by 32.5% over the same period. This includes emissions from fuel use, transportation, and sold products. The approval places Redcap Tour among a growing number of firms aligning with the Paris Agreement through SBTi, a standard now widely used by global investors and supply chain partners. The company voluntarily built an emissions management system and completed third-party verification of its data before seeking SBTi validation. CEO Yoo Sung In said the company plans to use the verified system to offer sustainable business travel and rental car services as corporate clients tighten their own carbon criteria.
