Kenoteq's K-BRIQ, an ultra-low carbon brick made from nearly 100% recycled construction and demolition waste, has been used on the new Yard Theatre in Hackney Wick, London. The brick, which is unfired and produces about 95% less carbon than a conventional clay brick, saved roughly 3.5 tons of CO2e compared to a clay alternative. The project also features a six-story natural ventilation chimney and other low-carbon design choices. The K-BRIQ is available in 12 colors from recycled pigments, allowing architects to use it as a visible design element rather than a hidden sustainability feature. It has BBA certification in the UK and a DrJ report for the US, supporting wider adoption. Kenoteq recently raised nearly £900,000 to scale production near Edinburgh, aiming to meet growing demand across healthcare, education, and commercial projects.
