Reclinker, a Cardiff-based industrial decarbonization startup, has raised £10 million (about $13 million) in a Series A round to scale its low-carbon cement recycling technology. The company uses electric arc furnaces from the steel industry to convert cement paste recovered from construction and demolition waste back into clinker, avoiding the traditional kiln process that relies on quarried limestone and fossil fuels. Cement production accounts for roughly 8% of global CO2 emissions, with most of that coming from clinker production. Reclinker says its process can cut emissions by 50% initially and could reach cost parity with conventional cement as it scales. The funding will support team growth in Cardiff and expansion of the technology across EAF sites in Europe and the U.S.
