Cardiff based Reclinker has raised £10 million in an oversubscribed Series A round to scale its low-carbon cement technology. The company recovers cement paste from demolition waste and turns it back into clinker using electric arc furnaces that already recycle steel. The process avoids limestone calcination and fossil fuel heat, which together account for most cement emissions. Reclinker has completed industrial trials at 7 Steel UK in Cardiff and made its first commercial sales. The funding will support production toward 120,000 tonnes per year in South Wales and help the model expand to other electric arc furnace sites in Europe and the US. Investors include Clean Growth Fund, AP Ventures, and the Development Bank of Wales. The company says its cementitious slag can cut emissions by 50% at cost parity with conventional cement. Cement contributes about 7% of global CO2 emissions, so scaling this kind of process matters. The main test is whether the product meets construction standards and how fast it can move from trials to commercial volume.
