The Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation is launching the Jaladhara initiative to combat water insecurity caused by rapid urbanization and climate change. The city plans to install 25,630 rainwater soak pits by the end of May across residential homes, apartment complexes, and government buildings. This infrastructure push aims to prevent water stagnation in low lying areas and restore the local water table. Alongside the soak pits, the city is working to rejuvenate local water bodies and purify reservoirs to ensure long term water sustainability.
