Rain Industries Q3FY27: Net Profit Up 87% QoQ, Rain Carbon Partners BioBTX on Renewable Aromatics
scanx.tradeRain Industries reported Q3FY27 net profit of Rs 2,433 crore, up 87% quarter on quarter. The more forward-looking news is at subsidiary Rain Carbon, which signed a collaboration with BioBTX to supply renewable aromatics to the chemical industry. BioBTX is building a first commercial plant in Delfzijl, Netherlands, using its ICCP technology to convert plastic waste into around 10,000 tonnes per year of aromatic oil containing benzene, toluene, and xylenes. Commercial operations are targeted for early 2028. Rain Carbon will process that circular oil into benzene, phthalic anhydride, and other derivatives for pharmaceuticals, coatings, toys, and automotive customers. The companies frame it as a drop-in alternative to fossil-based aromatics, meaning buyers can cut product carbon footprints without changing downstream processes. With FID taken in July 2026 and production roughly 18 months away, the near-term revenue impact for Rain Industries is limited, but the deal shows where its carbon materials business is heading.
