Purabi Dairy, through its parent company NEDFL, has signed an MoU with NDDB and Suzuki R&D India to build a compressed biogas (CBG) plant in Assam. The plant will convert dairy and agricultural waste into CBG for vehicles and industrial use, plus produce organic fertilizer. Suzuki is investing in the project and will claim the carbon credits from the emissions reductions. NDDB provides technical support, while NEDFL will operate the plant and sell the biogas and fertilizer. The project is part of a broader push by Suzuki, which already runs two biogas plants in Gujarat, to expand its CBG footprint in India. For Assam, the plant supports waste management, cuts methane emissions from manure, and gives dairy farmers an extra income stream from waste that used to have no value. The organic fertilizer byproduct also fits with the region's near-natural agriculture practices. No timeline or capacity figures were disclosed in the MoU announcement.
