Purabi Dairy, the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), and Suzuki R&D India have signed a memorandum of understanding to build a compressed biogas (CBG) plant in Assam. The plant will convert dairy and agricultural waste into compressed biogas for use as a clean vehicle and industrial fuel, and also produce organic fertilizer. Suzuki R&D India is investing in the project and will claim the carbon credits from the emissions reductions. NDDB is providing technical support, while NEDFL, which operates the Purabi brand, will run the plant and sell the CBG and bio-fertilizers. This is part of Suzuki's broader push into biogas in India. The company already has nine biogas plants in the country, with two operating in Banaskantha, Gujarat. For Assam, the project ties dairy farming to clean energy and circular economy goals. Farmers could get extra income from selling waste, and the organic fertilizer output supports the state's focus on near-natural agriculture. No capacity or timeline figures were disclosed in the MoU announcement.
