Punjab to Replace Fuel Buses with Electric Buses: PMTA Opens Pre-Qualification for Suppliers
autopower.com.pkThe Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA) has announced plans to replace fuel-powered buses with fully electric buses across the province. The initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions, improve air quality, and modernize public transport. PMTA has invited companies to pre-qualify for supplying 12-meter electric buses, with applications opening July 16. Selected firms will also install charging infrastructure, provide driver training, and handle maintenance and spare parts. The project aligns with Punjab's broader sustainable development goals and could serve as a model for other Pakistani provinces looking to electrify public transit.
