The Punjab government in Pakistan plans to introduce 10,000 electric bikes in Lahore on a rental basis, supported by 300 docking and charging stations. The initiative targets air pollution reduction and lower commuting costs, with the first phase focusing on connecting residential areas, commercial districts, and public transport hubs. The Punjab Housing Authority will provide land for charging infrastructure, and users will access the service via a mobile app. Authorities estimate the e-bikes could prevent thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions annually, addressing Lahore's severe smog problem. However, rental pricing and billing details have not yet been announced.
