Punjab replaces diesel buses with electric fleet under green transport initiative | carboncredit.io
techjuice.pkThe Punjab government has announced a plan to replace conventional diesel-powered buses with an electric fleet. The Punjab Mass Transit Authority will oversee the transition, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and improve public transport across the province. The government has invited applications from companies with experience supplying 12-meter fully electric buses. Selected firms will supply the buses, set up charging infrastructure, provide spare parts and maintenance, and train drivers. The pre-qualification process starts July 16, 2026. Officials say the project supports a cleaner, carbon-free transport network and aligns with broader sustainability goals in Pakistan. The shift is expected to lower long-term operating costs and improve air quality.
