Pune Municipal Corporation plans carbon credit unit to generate revenue from green projects
timesofindia.indiatimes.comThe Pune Municipal Corporation is setting up a special unit to survey city projects and create a carbon credit inventory. The goal is to register eligible emission reductions and sell credits to generate new revenue for the city. Eligible projects include green energy, river rejuvenation, parks, and sanitation work. Mayor Manjusha Nagpure confirmed the plan, which requires appointing expert consultants and framing a policy on how credit sales revenue is spent. The proposal is before the general body. If executed, this could become a model for other Indian cities looking to monetize climate action through carbon markets.
