People wanting more green space is great, but the real question is who pays for the maintenance. If these communal areas aren't funded properly, they just become overgrown patches of weeds in five years.

That is why we need better procurement rules. If the maintenance is baked into the planning permission and funded by a long term levy, it actually works. Otherwise, it is just a checkbox for the developer.
