The Philippine Stock Exchange has become the first stock exchange globally to join the Carbon Disclosure Project as a capital markets signatory. This move places PSE among over 540 financial institutions representing more than $110 trillion in assets that collectively request environmental disclosures from companies worldwide. PSE president Ramon Monzon said the exchange is signaling to listed companies and investors that environmental transparency is essential for long-term value creation. The CDP platform integrates IFRS S2 reporting standards and covers climate change, water security, forests, plastics, and ocean impacts. In 2025, 22,100 companies representing two-thirds of global market capitalization disclosed through CDP. The development could pressure more Philippine listed firms to disclose their environmental impacts and climate risks. It also positions the PSE as a leader in sustainable finance among Asian exchanges, potentially attracting ESG-focused investors to the Philippine market.
