Good example of RGGI funds actually hitting the ground. Using cap and trade auction proceeds for local sequestration and urban cooling is a direct way to return carbon costs to the community.
The grant covering maintenance for the first two years is the most important part here. Too many of these projects fail because the school forgets to water them after the photo op is over.
Nice for the students, but 90 trees is a drop in the bucket for actual carbon offsets. Do they have a survival rate tracking plan beyond the two year maintenance window?
