Primetals Technologies is upgrading a 5-strand bloom caster for a steel producer in eastern China. The project includes a new 200-ton withdrawal straightening unit and an optimized cooling system to improve internal bloom quality and production flexibility. These technical improvements allow for the production of high-value steel grades used in bearings and bridge cables. The upgrade aims to increase precision in soft reduction and overall plant performance, with a scheduled start-up by the end of 2026.
