Prime Bank PLC has become the latest signatory to the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF), joining more than 700 financial institutions worldwide that commit to measuring and disclosing the greenhouse gas emissions linked to their loans and investments. The move makes Prime Bank one of the first banks in Bangladesh to adopt a standardized approach to carbon accounting in its lending portfolio. As a PCAF signatory, Prime Bank gains access to specialized tools and technical working groups to track the carbon footprint of its financing activities. The bank says this transparency will help it manage and reduce emissions from its capital while supporting Bangladesh's transition to a low-carbon economy. The announcement comes as pressure grows on emerging market banks to align with global climate disclosure standards.
