Praj Industries signed an exclusive agreement with Gevo to develop and commercialize Bio-Isobutanol (Bio-IBA) technology in India. The focus is diesel blending, which matters because India's diesel volume is much larger than petrol and lowering its carbon intensity could have a bigger emissions impact. Praj is now setting up what it says will be India's first commercial Bio-IBA demonstration plant for a leading oil marketing company. Bio-IBA is an advanced biofuel that can be made from sugarcane and starch feedstocks, building on Praj's existing ethanol experience. The deal also extends a decade-long relationship with Gevo. Praj reported Q1 FY27 revenue of ₹715.8 crore and a record order backlog of ₹4,590 crore, though the technology still needs to prove its supply chain economics at demonstration scale.
