PPG launches Teslin Envos synthetic paper with 30% bio-based content and lower carbon footprint
investor.ppg.comPPG has introduced Teslin Envos, a synthetic paper substrate made with 30% bio-based content. Compared with the standard Teslin SP1000 grade, PPG says the new material can cut cradle-to-gate carbon footprint by up to 25% while offering improved brightness, tear resistance, tensile strength, and flexibility. The product is aimed at government IDs, passports, durable labels, specialty labels, RFID labels, and identification cards. It is initially available in 10-mil thickness. PPG says it is made at a facility where purchased renewable electricity credits are applied. The bio-based content is measured with ASTM D6866 and the carbon footprint comparison follows ISO 14040, 14044, and 14067 frameworks. Businesses looking to lower embodied carbon in printed credentials or labels may want to evaluate Teslin Envos against their existing substrate.
