POSCO Future M has developed a silicon anode material that offers four times the energy storage capacity of traditional graphite. By using nanotechnology and carbon compounding, the company has addressed the common issue of material expansion during charge and discharge cycles. The new material maintains over 80 percent of its initial capacity after 1,000 cycles, even with a silicon mixing ratio exceeding 20 percent. POSCO Future M plans to begin mass supply of this technology by 2028 to improve EV range and charging speeds.
