Laois County Council is expanding its free Neighbourhood Energy Clinics across Portlaoise after a successful pilot in Esker Hills. The clinics are part of the Portlaoise Low Carbon Town Project and offer one-to-one advice on home energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and available SEAI grants. Residents receive personalized reports using the RetroKit digital assessment tool, covering recommended upgrades and potential savings. Energy specialists from the council, Midlands Energy Agency, and Sustainable Energy Communities attend the clinics. AIB representatives also provide information on green mortgages and retrofit loans. The goal is to help homeowners take practical steps toward lower energy bills and reduced emissions, supporting the town's broader climate resilience plan.
