Researchers have developed an inorganic polymer binder using calcium aluminate and water glass to replace traditional Portland cement. This alternative maintains high structural strength while significantly reducing the carbon footprint of building materials by avoiding the high-emission calcination process. The material is versatile enough to work with dune sand and industrial waste. When combined with biochar, these building blocks can act as carbon sinks, potentially storing over one ton of CO2 per cubic meter.
