Pollen Street Capital Provides €120M to InSoil for Regenerative Agriculture and Carbon Credits in Europe
investinag.comPollen Street Capital has provided a €120 million senior secured facility to InSoil, a European platform that combines finance, carbon certification, and agronomic support to help farmers transition to regenerative agriculture. The facility is guaranteed by the European Investment Fund under the InvestEU program and targets a €62 billion annual financing gap for sustainable farming. InSoil uses the capital to offer mid-term loans to small and medium-sized agricultural businesses adopting practices like no-till cultivation, cover cropping, and reduced synthetic fertilizer use. The company has collected over 15,000 soil samples to build one of Europe's largest proprietary soil carbon datasets, which underpins both credit underwriting and carbon credit quantification. A recent study across 78 regenerative farms in 14 countries found yields only 1 percent lower on average but with 62 percent less synthetic nitrogen and 76 percent less pesticide use. This deal follows InSoil's 2025 partnership with Key Carbon, a $100 million agreement to finance regenerative agriculture across 1 million hectares of European farmland. Together, these financings signal that sustainable agriculture is becoming an investable asset class for institutional capital, with clear links to carbon markets and climate resilience.
