Politecnico di Milano has introduced POLICAP, a transportable carbon capture laboratory designed to test solvent based CO2 removal directly at industrial sites. Funded by Italy's National Recovery and Resilience Plan, the facility allows researchers to trial new materials and process configurations using real emission streams rather than just synthetic gases. This initiative supports Italy's broader CCUS strategy, including the Ravenna CCS Hub, which aims to store up to four million tonnes of CO2 annually by 2030. The project focuses on improving the economic and energy efficiency of carbon capture for hard to abate industrial sectors.
