Polestar is working toward a net zero vehicle by 2035 without relying on carbon offsets. The company has implemented a shadow carbon pricing model to guide procurement decisions and uses blockchain to track the sourcing of cobalt, lithium, nickel, and mica. To reduce embodied emissions, Polestar established the Mission 0 House in Gothenburg. This facility focuses on developing ultra-low-emission steel, bio-based textiles, and battery materials to lower the overall carbon footprint of electric vehicle production.
