POET has become the official bioethanol sponsor of NASCAR, supplying a zero-carbon liquid fuel for the Daytona 500. The fuel is made from American grain and achieves a lifecycle carbon intensity of zero or even negative, according to POET, using the Argonne National Laboratory GREET model. The company combines regenerative agriculture practices, carbon capture and sequestration, and advanced biotechnology to produce the fuel at commercial scale across 35 facilities. NASCAR racecars have run over 25 million miles on E15 blends over the past 15 years. The new fuel maintains high-octane performance while eliminating lifecycle carbon emissions. POET sources grain from more than 30,000 farmers, many using reduced tillage, crop rotation, and precision nutrient application to lower carbon intensity. The partnership positions bioethanol as a low-carbon fuel option for motorsports and broader transportation.
