PNM has submitted a resource plan to the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission to achieve 100% carbon-free electricity. The strategy focuses on replacing coal generation from the Four Corners Power Plant with a mix of wind, solar, and battery storage. The proposal includes 800 MW of wind, 240 MW of solar, and 610 MW of storage to handle a projected 40% increase in electricity demand by 2032. A small amount of natural gas will remain as a backup until 2045 to ensure system reliability during the transition.
