PLN Indonesia Power, the state-owned power producer, is in talks with Swiss climate advisory firm South Pole to extend their carbon trading partnership for the Gunung Salak geothermal plant. The two companies are also exploring broader collaboration on decarbonization initiatives and carbon market development in Indonesia. The partnership has already helped PLN Indonesia Power monetize carbon assets from the Gunung Salak facility. The companies are now looking at expanding carbon credit sales from other renewable energy projects under PLN's portfolio, as part of the utility's Beyond Energy Solutions strategy to generate new revenue streams beyond electricity generation. South Pole CEO Nadia Kaddouri said Indonesia remains a strategic market for the company's global climate business. The expanded collaboration aims to accelerate decarbonization and develop climate solutions in the country, which has been actively building its domestic carbon market infrastructure.
