PLN EPI launches green hydrogen ecosystem for Indonesian industry and aviation sector
en.antaranews.comPLN EPI, a subsidiary of Indonesia's state electricity company, has started building an integrated green hydrogen ecosystem. The project targets heavy industry including fertilizer, ammonia, oil refining, petrochemical, steel, and chemical plants. It also plans to supply electro-Sustainable Aviation Fuel (e-SAF) by combining green hydrogen with captured CO2 to produce low-carbon jet fuel. The company sees Indonesia as a potential key player in green hydrogen, backed by abundant renewable energy. Challenges include accelerating ecosystem development, advancing production technology, and building a commercial market. This effort is part of PLN's broader strategy to transition to low-carbon energy alongside renewables, nuclear, CCUS, and the Green Energy Super Grid. The initiative aims to kickstart green hydrogen commercialization in Indonesia, with industrial sectors as the foundation. Demand for e-SAF is expected to rise as global aviation regulations tighten carbon emission limits.
