A new online tool called the Planetary Facts Dashboard has launched in New Zealand, created by the non-profit Planetary Accounting Network. Yeah the chocolate vs car trip comparison is a good hook. But without seeing the methodology it is hard to know if the weighting is arbitrary or based on solid science.

If the methodology is open source it could be useful for corporate disclosures. But if it is a black box it will just be another PR tool. Need to see the data sources and boundary definitions.

A multi boundary approach makes sense for things like building materials where carbon is only part of the story. Water use and land disturbance matter too. But the dashboard is only useful if the data behind it is granular enough for real decisions.
