Pi Green Commissions 2-10 TPD Carbon Capture Pilot at GMR Warora Using Mineral Carbonation
energetica-india.netPi Green Innovations has commissioned its Net Zero Machine (NZM) pilot at GMR Warora Energy in Maharashtra, India. The unit captures 2 to 10 tonnes of CO2 per day directly from industrial sources and mineralizes it using fly ash, turning emissions into a reusable solid material. This is India's first operational carbon capture system based on mineral carbonation, according to the company. The project also supports two revenue streams: selling the mineralized slurry for construction use and generating carbon credits for voluntary markets. Pi Green has submitted its methodology to India's Bureau of Energy Efficiency for registration under the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS), which currently covers over 700 obligated entities after recent expansions. The technology is designed to scale up to 1,000 TPD, targeting hard-to-abate sectors like steel, cement, and chlor-alkali.
