Philippines, Germany sign TRANSCEND climate resilience and low-carbon development pact
gmanetwork.comThe Philippines and Germany signed an Implementation Agreement for the TRANSCEND project, a climate resilience and low-carbon development initiative backed by EUR 32.702 million from Germany's International Climate Initiative. The project will work in Luzon, Panay, and Northern Mindanao, focusing on ecosystem conservation and restoration, urban ecosystem-based adaptation, and integrating climate and environmental concerns into local and national planning. According to the Climate Change Commission, the project is designed to make climate risk, ecosystem condition, and emissions part of development choices, rather than just adding a climate label to existing work. It also supports national and subnational government agencies and connects local activity with the country's broader climate commitments. The agreement was signed by the CCC, DENR, and GIZ.
