The Philippine cement sector has unveiled a national decarbonization roadmap aimed at reducing emissions from one of the world's most carbon-intensive industries. Developed by the Department of Trade and Industry, the Cement Manufacturers Association of the Philippines, and supported by the Canadian government and UNIDO, the plan focuses on low-carbon cement production, alternative energy use, and carbon capture technologies. The roadmap positions the Philippines among Southeast Asian economies working to clean up cement production, with Thailand currently leading the region. The strategy is designed to balance emissions cuts with the country's ongoing infrastructure expansion, covering homes, schools, roads, and public facilities.
