PGE, Poland's largest energy group, has unveiled a revised strategy through 2035 that allocates 210 billion PLN to transition assets. The plan directs 80 billion PLN to renewables and storage, 70 billion PLN to network infrastructure, and 48 billion PLN to low-emission capacity including gas, district heating, and nuclear preparation. Coal spending is limited to 5 billion PLN for maintenance, with district-heating coal units slated for retirement by 2032. The company targets 11 GW of new renewable capacity connected to its networks, 9.6 GW of flexible gas, and 18 GWh of storage by 2035. A conditional dividend return from 2026 earnings is capped at 5% payout yield, but CFO Przemyslaw Jastrzebski stressed it is a maximum safeguard, not a target. The final decision will depend on cash generation, capital program funding needs, and coal asset developments. Nuclear power remains a strategic option with 1 billion PLN earmarked for site studies and SMR preparation, but no EBITDA target is set for that segment through 2035. Execution and capital discipline are now the key investor tests. The next earnings release on November 23, 2026, will provide a checkpoint on profitability and cash flow. The strategy improves visibility of PGE's transition priorities, but the scale of investment means dividend payments could compete with funding needs if conditions weaken.
