Pertamina completes water injectivity test at Jatibarang field for CCS project development
petromindo.comPertamina Drilling Services Indonesia completed a water injectivity test at the Jatibarang oil field in West Java on July 14, 2026, as part of preparations for carbon capture and storage projects. The test at well JTB-156 injected up to 600 barrels of water over one to two days to evaluate reservoir suitability for future carbon dioxide injection. Data will support enhanced oil recovery programs and reduce technical risks for CCS investments. The test involved collaboration across Pertamina's units and used treated wastewater from the Balongan treatment plant. Indonesia is developing CCS hubs to cut emissions from its oil, gas, and industrial sectors. The results will improve reservoir modeling and increase confidence in storage capacity, marking a practical step toward large-scale carbon storage in Southeast Asia.
