PeroCycle partnerships aim to cut steel and cement emissions with carbon recycling technology
bioengineer.orgPeroCycle has announced partnerships with PKU Pioneer and io consulting to scale its closed-loop carbon recycling technology. The company uses a perovskite catalyst to convert CO2 into CO at lower temperatures, which can then be reused as feedstock in heavy industrial processes. The goal is to reduce emissions in steel, cement, and chemical production by up to 90 percent. The technology can be integrated into new builds or retrofitted into existing plants. The partners plan a 20 ktpa demonstration plant followed by a 2 mtpa commercial facility. If successful, this approach could lower energy demand and operating costs while cutting process emissions in sectors that are hard to decarbonize.
